Artist's Notes
 
"This piece of reclaimed sea treasure was found on our dog walk on Lossiemouth Beach and I instantly knew I had to reveal its story. 
The woman was there already, waiting to be brought to life, but what could I do with the wooden arch that had been carved out? I pondered this for a few weeks, going back to her, searching for clues... then one day it came to me as I was working on the painting. A song popped into my head, "Somewhere Beyond the Sea" and I suddenly knew what had to be painted.
So many lives have been lost at sea, including some of my own family and friends. This piece pays homage to those who never return home."
